What does ‘express’ mean for a certified translation?
Express means that your order is given priority in our schedule and is handled straight away by an available sworn English translator. How quickly the translation is ready depends mainly on its length and subject area – a birth certificate is translated faster than a twenty-page court judgment. That is why we always give you the binding delivery date together with the quote.
Which English documents do we translate and certify?
- Personal documents
Birth, marriage and death certificates, divorce decrees and name changes.
- Certificates and diplomas
School and university certificates, Transcripts of Records and employment references – for job applications, studies and the recognition of qualifications.
- Legal and official documents
Court judgments, contracts, powers of attorney, driving licences and criminal record certificates.
- Business
Commercial register extracts, articles of association, Certificates of Incorporation and annual financial statements.
English–German or German–English?
Both. You need English → German if you are submitting English-language documents to a German body – for example the registry office (Standesamt), the immigration office (Ausländerbehörde), the office responsible for recognising qualifications or a university. German → English is required when German documents are needed abroad, for example for a visa, studies or job applications in the UK, Ireland, the USA, Canada or Australia.
For use abroad, some countries additionally require an apostille. Whether one is needed, and whether it belongs on the original or on the translation, is decided by the foreign authority – we are happy to advise you on this.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions – Express Certified English Translation
Short, clear answers. Your question is not listed? We are happy to advise you personally.
Ask your questionHow quickly is an express certified English translation ready?
That depends on length and subject area: short certificates are translated much faster than long contracts or court judgments. We give you the binding delivery date with the quote – if you have a deadline, please call us directly: +49 208 990477.
Can I order the certified translation entirely online?
Yes. You upload your document via the form or send it by email or WhatsApp, receive the quote by email and the finished translation by post. There is no need to visit our office.
Is a PDF of the certified translation sufficient?
That is up to the body you submit it to. Many authorities require the paper original with stamp and signature, while some also accept a scan for online applications. That is why we can provide both on request: the PDF in advance, followed by the original by post.
How much does an express certified English translation cost?
The price depends on length, subject area, delivery date and shipping. Once you have uploaded your document, you receive a free, no-obligation quote – with a binding price for standard documents.
Will the translation also be recognised abroad?
Certified translations from Germany are accepted in many countries, but only the foreign authority can decide this with binding effect. Some countries also require an apostille or a translation made in their own country. It is best to clarify the requirements in advance – we are happy to help.
What is the difference between a certified and a standard translation?
A certified translation bears the certification statement, stamp and signature of a sworn translator authorised by a German court and is recognised by authorities and courts. A standard translation without certification is sufficient for private or internal purposes.
Do you also translate handwritten documents?
Yes, as long as the handwriting is legible. Illegible passages are marked as such in the translation so that the authority can see what the original says. Ideally, send us a sharp, well-lit photo.
Do you also have English interpreters?
Yes – on site, by video or by phone, for example for appointments with authorities, medical consultations or negotiations. Find out more on our Interpreting page.
